VMWare virtual disk manager (vmware-vdiskmanager) est un utilitaire pour créer, modifier et supprimer un disque virtuel au travers de ligne de commande. L’utilitaire fonctionne sous Windows et Linux.
Pour augmenter la taille maximal d’un disque virtuel VMWare il suffit de taper la commande suivante à partir du répertoire de la machine virtuelle :
vmware-vdiskmanager -x 80GB mydisk.vmdk
L’opération ne modifie pas le contenu de la partition, les informations de partitions restent les mêmes. Il est donc indispensable suivant le système d’exploitation de faire une augmentation de la taille de la partition.
Le résultat dans la console :
Grow: 100% done.
Disk expansion completed successfully.
WARNING: If the virtual disk is partitioned, you must use a third-party
utility in the virtual machine to expand the size of the

Pour Windows il est possible d’utiliser EASEUS Partition Manager qui est gratuit dans la version personnel. Le lien vers l’outil de redimensionnement : http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm.
